The Chicago Bulls finally picked a path to rebuilding when they traded Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
They got back Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the draft rights to Lauri Markkenen in the deal. Chicago’s youth will be a key role in their rebuild as they look to stack talent for the future.
In order to land some young talent, the Bulls will have to strike it rich in the NBA Draft lottery. The 2018 class is loaded with talent headlined by Marvin Bagley, DeAndre Ayton and Luka Doncic.
All three are considered contenders for the top pick and the Bulls could likely grab one of those players in the Top 3. But first the Bulls must get into the top 3.
There’s nothing wrong with tanking to get top picks. Just look at the Philadelphia 76ers. After years of tanking, their plan is finally coming to fruition.
Now it’s the Bulls turn.
Chicago is on a 9-game losing streak after losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night. Don’t look it as another loss, rather look at it as a win for the Bulls Tank Job.
Following that loss, the Bulls currently sit at 3-19 on the season. That’s the worst record in the NBA.
According to Tankathon, the Bulls now have a 64.3% chance of landing a top 3 pick and a 25% chance to land the No. 1 overall pick.
Chicago sits 1.5 games ahead of the Atlanta Hawks and 2 games ahead of the Dallas Mavericks for the worst record in the NBA.
