WR – Velus Jones Jr.
Now I don’t think Jones will be cut from the roster regardless of his progression, but his role is absolutely at stake. After GM Ryan Poles traded for DJ Moore and drafted Tyler Scott, this wide receiver room is pretty full, and Jones might be one of the odd guys out.
Last year was Jones’ rookie campaign, and he didn’t exactly stand out. The speedster had a tough time as a return man, fumbling the ball three times. This Chicago Bears team needs to protect the ball much better than they did in 2022, meaning Jones’ days as a return man might be numbered.
I believe Jones needs to come to camp with a purpose, to prove he belongs as a contributor on this roster. The Tyler Scott draft pick absolutely didn’t help his case, but with some hard work and noticed progression, the staff could give him a chance to bounce back from his shaky rookie season.
He isn’t the only WR that could’ve been on this list. Chase Claypool will also be under a major microscope in camp, after all of the “workout drama” that has occurred on social media recently. I think after the Chicago Bears gave up a high pick to get Claypool, their more likely to give up on Jones before him. However, I could be wrong.
