Jamaal Williams, Running Back

Much has been made about the Chicago Bears desire to add an extra runner to pair with speedster D’Andre Swift. But most of that attention has been levied towards Ashton Jeanty and the NFL Draft. If the Bears don’t want to use a high draft pick at running back, Jamaal Williams has strong ties to the organization now.
Playing for the New Orleans Saints since 2023, Williams was just coached by new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. And from 2021-2022, he played under Ben Johnson on the Detroit Lions. The coaching staff would know exactly what to expect if Williams were to join the fray.
His time with the Saints wasn’t as explosive as New Orleans was hoping for, as he ran for just 470 yards and two touchdowns. However, with the Lions in 2022, Williams gained 1,066 yards and a league-leading 17 touchdowns.
It’s fair to wonder if Williams can still offer that production. And the Bears preference when it comes to adding running back. But when it comes to free agency, Williams would give Johnson a familiar face at running back.
