New Illinois football coach Tim Beckman continues his strong recruiting in his first full year as the Illini head coach.
4-star Ohio athlete Caleb Day committed to Illinois, giving them its 11th commitment of the year and 5th from the state of Ohio. Day comes from Darby High School in Hillard, Ohio. The 6’0″ 188 lb athlete ran a 4.5 40 at a Rivals combine, while benching 260, squatting 330, running a 4.1 shuttle and touching 36 inches in the vertical jump.
Rivals rates him as the 9th best Athlete in the nation and 186th best player overall in the class of 2013. Day chose the Illini over offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall and Ohio State.
He’s listed as an athlete but cornerback is his most likely position in college.
