Quentin Snider has turned John Groce’s 2014 recruiting class from good to great by committing to the Illini on Thursday night.
The 6’1″ 170 lb. point guard from Louisville, Kentucky chose Illinois over UCLA. Word started to leak out on Tuesday that Illinois would be the destination for Snider. Snider originally had been committed the Louisville, which makes him the second player in a row that Illinois has gotten due to a re0pened recruitment, with Leron Black being the other.
Ratings wise, Snider is a 4-star player across the board. On Scout, he’s the #31 player in the nation and the #7 point guard. On ESPN, he’s the 28th player in the nation, and the #7 point guard. On 247, he’s the #51 player in the nation and the #11 point guard (composite #34 player in the nation, #6 point guard). And on Rivals, he’s the #31 player in the nation.
Snider joins forwards Leron Black and Michael Finke as the third member of the 2014 recruiting class. While Illinois is fresh out of scholarships, they’re still actively recruiting big men Cliff Alexander and Jahlil Okafor, and also waiting on the waiver request for guard Ahmad Starks for this season.
