It didn’t take long for Andruw Jones to show Ozzie that he should be in the starting lineup everyday as belted his 7th homerun of the season in the 1st inning and then his 8th in the 3rd inning. However, Kotsay was not ready to give his spot as he also hit one of the yeard.
Gordon Beckham batted lead off today and he went o-5 strking out 5 times. Back to the bench for awhile? A new spot in the line up did nothing for Juan Pierre as he was hitless in 4 plate apperances. Carlos Quentin was also hitless, but he did was twice.
Paul Konerko was brought back down to earth as he only got one hit in 4 plate apperances.
John Danks was good in his apperances but a high pitch count(118) forced him out of the game in the 5th inning. Johnny went 5 innings giving only 2 runs on 6 hits. His replacement, Scott Linebrink, unfortuantely could not get him the win as he went 1 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 4 hits, 3 of those hits satyed in the park.
Williams, Putz and Jenks were excellent for the Sox as they combined for 1 hit, no runs and 4 strike outs as Bobby Jenks picked up the win.
The Sox hitters obviously liked facing there old teammate Javy Vasquez as he only went 3 innings(83 pitches), giving up 5 runs on 7 hits.
Although Mark Kotsay took Javy deep I think that A.Jones clearly showed he should be the permenent DH as he belted his 7th and 8th home runs. Jones only trails Paul Konerko for the team lead in home runs this year.
The Sox look to take the series tomorrow afternoon as MB56 (2-3) and the Sox look to close out Phil Hughes(2-0) and the Yankees.
