We are just two days away from the annual Orange and Blue Spring Spring Scrimmage hosted by your Illinois Fighting Illini.
The Illini started spring practices back on March 29, all leading up to this spring game, which typically attracts many fans and recruits.
With several injuries at the running back position, Coach Ron Zook has changed the format of the scrimmage. Jason Ford will be sidelined with a knee injury, and Troy Pollard remains questionable after taking a big blow in last Saturday’s scrimmage.
Illinois would like to do a typical game, where the players are divided into offense and defense and they play like normal. But, due to the injuries, Zook has gone to a situational scrimmage with a made-up scoring system.
Here is the scoring system:
Offense:
First Down – 1 point
PAT – 1 point
Play Over 30 Yards – 2 points
Field Goal – 3 points
Touchdown – 6 points
Defense:
Any stop – 1 point
3 and Out, first series – 2 points
4th Down Stop – 2 points
Turnover – 3 points
Turnover for Touchdown – 9 points
The scrimmage is open to the public. All Illinois fans are encouraged to come out and support your team as they start there journey to try and make back-to-back bowl games since 1992.
The scrimmage begins at 1 P.M. CST. All fans must enter the East side of Memorial Stadium.
