The Chicago Cubs have decided to keep Arismendy Alcantara in Chicago according to Carrie Muskat. The original plan was to send him back down to Iowa when Darwin Barney returned. The Cubs obviously liked what they saw from the 22-year-old second baseman.
Alcantara is 4-for-9 in his first two games with the Cubs with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. He had 4 hits in the Cubs 6-4 win over the Reds on Thursday and was a home run away from the completing the cycle.
To make room for Darwin Barney who returns from paternity leave, the Cubs have decided to send down pitcher Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks had a rough start to his debut earlier today vs. the Reds, but gained his control back and earned the no decision.
