The Colorado Avalanche hand the Chicago Blackhawks their 6th consecutive loss defeating them by a final score of 5-2. Their 6-game losing streak is the longest since the 2007-2008 season when they lost 7 straight.
Brent Seabrook got the Blackhawks on the board first jumping on a big rebound that deflected off of a Colorado defender from Duncan Keith’s shot at the point, and blasted it past Colorado goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere. The Avalanche, however, fired back with 2 goals in a 35-second span.
Several minutes later, Patrick Sharp fed Patrick Kane nicely cutting up the middle and connected on a back-hander to tie the game up at 2. Kane extends his point streak to 5 games.
But, it was all down hill after that. Colorado’s 19-year old rookie, Gabriel Landeskog, scored just 38 seconds into the third period while David Jones knocked home his second goal of the game later on in the period. Kyle Quincey shut the door with the empty netter.
The stat that sums up the game: Colorado had 7 odd man rushes to the Chicago’s 0.
INJURY UPDATE: Steve Montador left the game in the 2nd period with an upper-body injury. Coach Q will know more about it tomorrow.
