Morgan Park’s Ayo Dosunmu is a walking bucket this year.
The five-star guard committed to the University of Illinois, staying in-state in hopes of helping rebuild the Illini’s program. Dosunmu is in his senior year for the Mustangs and he’s having a big season.
While playing in the Tarkanian Classic out in Vegas, Dosunmu put on a show scoring 60 points breaking a tournament record for single-game points in the historic event.
Check out the highlights here:
Prior to that, he dropped 50 points in a game for the Mustangs as he’s having a heck of a senior year. His efforts should be enough to earn him McDonald’s All-American honors this year.
If Dosunmu accomplishes that, he will be the first player since Stevenson’s Jalen Brunson to do so.
He’s currently the 25th-ranked player in 247 Sports’ Composite rankings this year and the top player in the state of Illinois. He could shoot up the rankings if he continues his impressive play.
For Illinois, landing Dosunmu was a must for Brad Underwood. The Illini have struggled to land the best players in the state of Illinois missing out on the likes of Jon Scheyer, Derrick Rose, Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, Cliff Alexander and Brunson over the years.
It could open up that recruiting pipeline a little more which includes players like Adam Miller (Peoria) and D.J. Steward (Fenwick).
