For the 4th straight game Mark Buehrle was not his usuall self as the Sox dropped the finale of the 3 game series to the Yankees 12-3. Mark went 4 2/3 innings giving up 10 hits, 5 ER and 1 walk. Mark is now 2-4 on the season with an ERA of 5.30.
The Bullpen was no better for the Sox as Tony Pena came in for the rest of the 4th and all of the 5th as he gave up 5 ER on 4 hits. His era is now 7.30. Randy Williams tried to heal the pain but also gave up a run. The only bright spot for the pitching staff was Sergio Santos who came in for the 8th and allowed 0 runs on 0 hits and 2 strike outs.
Paul Konerko contiuned to shine as he blasted his 12th home run of the season (24th rbi) in the 9th inning.
New Leadoff man Mark Kotsay was 2-4 today. Beckham stayed cold as he was 0-4. Andruw Jones and Paul Konerko both added a hit each.
Batters 5-9 were all horrible as theyall failed to get a hit.
There were a variety of Sox killers today as Johnson, Tex, Swisher Cano and Gardner all had multiple RBI’s.
Sox batters had no answer for young Phil Hughes as he went 7 innings giving up 4 hits and 0 runs.
The Sox look to start a new winning streak tomorrow against the Kansas City Royals.
