It’s now official. After completing a trade with the Oakland Athletics, the Chicago Cubs now have the best farm system according to Baseball America.
The Cubs acquired Addison Russell (ranked #6), Billy McKinney (#2 ranked A’s prospect) as well as Dan Straily in exchange for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel. That trade gave the Cubs the No. 3, No. 5, No. 6 and No. 18 best prospects in the newest rankings by Baseball America set to release Thursday. Joining Russell are Javier Baez, Kris Bryant and Arismendy Alcantara as the other Cubs prospects listed.
The Cubs system is now loaded with talent and could cause a problem on where everyone will play. It’s a good problem to have however, as the future looks like it’s getting closer and closer to happening.
