The Bears have clinched a 1st round bye. The last game of the Bears season is against division rival Green Bay, a game where Jay Cutler and crew can rest up. I think we should all take a moment and say thank you to Joe Webb.
Rookie quarterback Joe Webb of the Minnesota Vikings trumped the hot Philadelphia Eagles in a game where the Eagles were two touchdown favorites. The Vikings were able to pressure Vick all through-out the game.
The Vikings were able to hold the powerful offense of the Eagles to just 14 points. The Vikings went into Philadelphia on the road and shocked the Eagles 24-14. I must give props where they are due, and those props go to Joe Webb.
Webb was 3rd on the depth chart at the beginning of the season and was originally brought into Minnesota to play wide receiver. This win can be directly attributed to that athleticism that impressed scouts by Webb. Webb was 17 of 26 for 195 yards through the air. He also added 31 yards on the ground along with a rushing touchdown.
What does that mean for Chicago? The Bears clinched a 1st round bye with Philadelphia’s loss. In a season where many experts doubted the Bears, being able to lock up a 1st round bye with 1 week left to play is a very big accomplishment. Our last game is at Green Bay, a game where Caleb Hanie will get to display his talents for the nation.
Tomorrow is officially JOE WEBB DAY!
