The most important factor in a pre-season game is not the score. It is which team can walk away with the least injuries. Bears DE Corey Wooton, aka Favre Killer, was injured on the opening kickoff against the Bills.
It appears that Wooton will be out up to 4 weeks with meniscus damage in his right knee. His injury appeared to stem from the way he planted while being blocked on the opening kickoff. Wooton immediately came out of the game.
The defensive line wound up playing great through out the entire game. Fans at Soldier field missed a treat in watching Wooton play alongside of Henry Melton. All reports coming out of training camp were that Wooton and Melton would wind up making quite the impact.
Some good news can be taken from his injury and, that is that no ACL damange had occured. Wooton’s return will hopefully be before the September 11th opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Expect Vernon Gholsten to get more playing time this pre-season in his absence.
