According to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune, Bears starting right guard Lance Louis will be placed on the injured reserve list with an ACL injury suffered during the Bears 28-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday afternoon. Louis suffered the injury during the third quarter when he was blindsided by Vikings defensive end Jared Allen after quarterback Jay Cutler threw an interception. The extent of the injury has yet to be reported.
This will be a major blow to the Bears who’ve already struggled with protecting their signal caller all year. The Bears recently placed Chilo Rachal on the reserve/non-football injury list after he walked away from the team when coach Lovie Smith benched him repeated poor performances. Soon after, the Bears benched struggling right tackle Gabe Carimi. During the victory against the Vikings, the Bears also lost lineman Chris Spencer to a knee injury. The results of his MRI will be available later this afternoon. It is unknown if the Bears will look to fill Louis’s void internally or make a move outside their current roster.
