According the multiple sources, the Bears will sign tight end, Martellus Bennett. The 6″6 tight end spent four with the Dallas Cowboys before playing for the New York Giants last year. Bennett had a career season last year, catching 55 passes along with five touchdowns. Pretty impressive numbers on a Giants offense that features a lot of receiving weapons.
The move is great for the Bears. Kellen Davis had a terrible receiving year for the Bears in 2012 and is not expected to remain with the Bears much longer. Adding another big target in the middle of the field with help create space for the Bears receivers. Bennet is also very strong in blocking, which notably been a weak spot for the Bears the past couple of seasons.
It is unclear if the Bears plan on cutting Davis.
