The Chicago Bears have completed a big step in their search for a new head coach, interviewing interim-head coach Thomas Brown for the role.
Brown, 38, was given an audition over the final five games of the regular season following Matt Eberflus’ firing the day after Thanksgiving and built a strong rapport with players such as quarterback Caleb Williams and some of the team’s top offensive weapons.

It remains to be seen whether General Manager Ryan Poles and the organization interviewing Thomas is anything more than a courtesy, as the Bears seem to be casting a wide net when it comes to the candidates they are considering.
Both Detroit Lions coordinators, Ben Johnson and Aaron Glen, former Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl-winning head coach Pete Carroll, and even Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman are just a few of the names that have been linked to the Chicago job in recent weeks.
Likewise, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy could be earmarked for an interview, now that the Cowboys have decided not to renew his contract.
