Jay Cutler is one of three notable Bears injuries that took place yesterday.
LAKE FOREST- At 12:30 today, the Chicago Bears will be holding a press conference to discuss the latest round of injuries (and possibly other matters) at Halas Hall. It is expected that there will be an update on starting quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler was injured in yesterday’s loss to Washington and after the game head coach Marc Trestman revealed that his starting QB suffered a groin injury. The extent of that injury is not known yet. Cutler had an x-ray after being removed from yesterday’s game, but an MRI scheduled to take place today should reveal just how severe the injury is.
If reports are correct about the extent of Cutler’s injury, then we should get confirmation that the Bears have indeed re-signed Jordan Palmer to backup Josh McCown. From there it’s just a matter of how much playing time Cutler will miss. There should also be injury updates on linebacker Lance Briggs (shoulder) and cornerback Charles Tillman (knee).
Both men were pulled out during the second half yesterday’s game against the Redskins. Up until now, Briggs had managed to stay healthy this season. Tillman on the other hand has been bothered by his problematic knee since the beginning of the season. Losing Tillman and Briggs would be a disaster for the Bears defense, especially after they gave up 38 points and 499 yards of offense to a Redskins team (2-4) which hasn’t been very good in 2013.
For now, everyone is hopeful that the bye week will give all parties involved time to heal. But in two hours, we will get the answers that we seek.
