The Bears are actively shopping Tim Shaw and multiple teams are interested, and according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. After making 30 special teams tackles in 15 games last season after Brian Urlacher’s season-ending injury against the Packers in the season opener. If there is indeed interest, there has to be teams in need of a kick and punt coverage ace who also provides depth at linebacker. There is a possibility that the Bears could recoup the 7th round pick they gave up for Harvey Unga.
Shaw wasn’t part of the Bears plans for their 53 man roster as the 7th linebacker. He was passed on the depth chart by Brian Iwuh as the 6th linebacker and was on the bubble since. Iwuh is also great on special teams, and showed more on defense than Shaw.
The Bears don’t dress more than six linebackers on game day, leaving Tim Shaw inactive on the sideline and not running down the field covering kicks and punts.
If the Bears cannot trade Shaw, he will be released.
