Coming into the game Big Buff had o goals and 0 points this postseason. After the game was over Dustin now has 2 goals. The Penalty kill for the Canucks was horrible as both of Dustin’s goals were on the power play. You could tell the crowd wasn’t getting to Buff, but it was almost inspiring him to show them up and that is exactly what he did scoring a goal in the 1st and in the 2nd . Kris Versteeg added to the fun with another goal on the postseason, as did Hossa and Kane.
The intensity increased a great amount as the Hawks looked like they wanted to give the fans a show they wouldn’t like. Big Buff was very active, not only on offense but standing up for his guys and getting in the middle of things. Dave Bolland also got into it with the twins. Dave Bolland has been a silent hero as he has been very scrappy getting under people’s skin. Big Buff got a little too aggressive in the 3rd as he was tussling with O’Brien and was given a 2 minute roughing penalty. The Hawks killed that penalty, which included an excellent save by Niemi.
Marian Hossa made the game 4-2 on a shot that just sneaked by the net minder. His great celebration almost mocking the fans, as did Buff in the 2nd, made my day. Patrick Kane added to the fun making the game 5-2. Vancouver fans were restless, and the Hawks were on FIRE!!! Players were restless too as Burrows was ejected for taking a swing at Bolland.
Cooler heads soon prevaled and the Hawks took the game 5-2.
Hawks look to take a 3-1 series lead Friday night in Vancouver.
