According to Raul Lopez, Carlos Zambrano was hit by a line drive while playing in the Venezuela Winter league. He was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons. However, Zambrano did receive 6 stitches around his mouth. Today, Zambrano is at his home in Puerto Rico resting peacefully, but does feel pain near his mouth. Zambrano told his manager to not take him out of the starting rotation and he’ll be fine. Zambrano was taken out in the 6th inning after he was hit by the line drive. Zambrano arguably had his best outing going 5 innings, giving up 1 unearned run, 2 hits and struck out 4.
Carlos Zambrano signed a contract to play for Caribes de Anzoategui in the Winter League. Big Z did get approval from the Cubs and was allowed to pitch in the league. I think the Cubs gave permission to Zambrano to play in the league, so he can wash off the rust. Since he hasn’t pitched for a while after being suspended by the Cubs after his latest meltdown.
Carlos Zambrano, his agent and Theo Epstein had lunch on Monday to try and clear the air. It was Zambrano’s idea for the meeting. Theo Epstein said Zambrano will have to earn his way back on the team and clear the air with each player. That means Zambrano will have to work hard this Winter. However, it does not mean Zambrano will not be traded because he still may be.
I guess we just have to wait and see if Zambrano makes his next start for Caribes de Anzoategui.

he also sufferes from soft tissue damage
Oh by the way it was 10 stitches, not 6 stitches as I wrote. 6 stitches was the first number count to come out the manager said it was 10.
