The Blackhawks remain undefeated in regulation cruising on to defeat the Phoenix Coyotes by a final score of 6-2.
Jamal Mayers and Raffi Torres set the tone early by dropping the gloves only two and a half minutes into the contest. Verdit: a tie.
And it was all Blackhawks after that.
Viktor Stalberg, Patrick Kane (2), and Dave Bolland each tallied a goal in the opening period of play, one of them coming on the power play.
Phoenix eventually got on the board early in the second period when Martin Hanzal tipped in a shot from Radim Vrbata on the power play to cut Chicago’s lead to 4-1.
The Blackhawks responded later when Jonathan Toews slid a shot past goaltender Mike Smith’s five-hole followed up by Bryan Bickell’s goal prompting Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett to make a goalie switch.
Phoenix tacked on a late goal in the final minutes of the third period, but it wouldn’t matter trailing by four goals.
Chicago had five players record multi-point games (Bickell, Kane, Patrick Sharp, Stalberg, Toews). Kane has now registered multi-point games in 7 of the first 11 regular-season games.
The Blackhawks blocked another 18 shots tonight led by Brent Seabrook (5) and Niklas Hjalmarsson (4).
Ray Emery picked up his third win on the season stopping 22 of 24 (.917 save %) shots.
