The Chicago Blackhawks have placed forward Rostislav Olesz on waivers.
After the 26-year old was acquired in the offseason from the Florida Panthers for defenseman Brian Campbell, Olesz was given a second chance in Chicago to turn his struggling ways.
Well, let’s just say he still hasn’t lived up to his first-round potential. Olesz has been scratched in 12 of 18 contests this season for the Blackhawks and in the 6 games he’s played, Olesz hasn’t earned a single point and has only averaged a little over 9 minutes per game on the fourth line.
Here’s what head coach Joel Quenneville had to say on Olesz:
“He didn’t get a ton of opportunities. His opportunity was limited, but I guess sometimes you earn your opportunity as you go a long here. His production, you could say he hasn’t produced probably at the rate – and I’m not necessarily just talking production – but his overall game, maybe we were looking for more.”
