It’s a move that came out of nowhere.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie is reporting that the Chicago Blackhawks have traded left winger Brandon Saad to the Columbus Blue Jackets. In exchange for Saad, the Blackhawks will receive forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Corey Tropp and Jeremy Morin. The Blackhawks will also receive a fourth-round pick in the 2016 Draft.

The winger was a restricted free agent with general manager Stan Bowman stressing that re-signing the young star would be a priority this off-season. Saad was a major part in the Blackhawks Stanley Cup run this season tallying 11 points with 8 goals in 23 games. He finished the 2015 regular season with 52 points.
The move is shocker to fans as the team is trying to clear some cap space, but many thought players such as Patrick Sharp and Byran Bickell were most likely out. Instead it’s Saad who many thought would be a key part to the Blackhawks core for years to come.
