The wait is officially over.
The Chicago Cubs appear to be the winners of the Yu Darvish sweepstakes which is ending on Saturday. According to Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs and Darvish have agreed to a six-year deal worth near $150M pending a physical.
Rosenthal reported the deal on Saturday afternoon:
BREAKING: Yu Darvish to #Cubs, six year-deal in $150M range, sources tell The Athletic. Pending physical.

Jon Heyman confirmed Rosenthal’s report and dropped an interesting tidbit. The reporter stated that the Los Angeles Dodgers offered Darvish a deal in the same range as the Cubs, but he chose to sign with Chicago instead.
dodgers were said to have offered in the same ballpark as cubs, but he picked chicago #darvish

The deal is for $126M but with incentives it can reach $150M according to Rosenthal. With pitchers and catchers reporting next week, this is great news for the Cubs who were looking to add a big arm to their rotation with Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks and Jose Quintana.
