The wait is finally over. The Chicago Cubs and free agent outfielder Jason Heyward have agreed to a deal according to multiple reports.
Cubs get heyward
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 11, 2015
After days of speculation, Heyward made his decision Friday to join the Cubs and give them another power bat in their lineup. The 26-year-old was reportedly deciding between the Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals.
Heyward is slashing .268/.353/.431 in his six years in the majors. He spent last season with the St. Louis Cardinals after being traded for Shelby Miller. While Heyward’s offensive numbers don’t seem too impressive, his defense is what everyone rages about. If the Cubs decide to keep Jorge Soler, they would have two of the best defensive arms in baseball.
