Breaking News: Chicago Cubs Vice President of Scouting Jason McLeod has withdrawn his name from the San Diego Padres General Manager opening, according to Patrick Mooney.
McLeod wants to stay in Chicago and see the process through. McLeod said; “we got a good thing going here and this is where I want to be.” McLeod also said he still wants to be a general manager in the future.
The San Diego Padres fired General Manager Josh Byrnes on June 23rd. Right when Byrnes was fired, McLeod’s named came up as a candidate to take over as the new San Diego Padres General Manager. The Cubs gave the Padres permission to interview McLeod, but he withdrew his name today and will continue his job with the Cubs.
McLeod was with the Padres before he came to the Cubs, along with General Manager Jed Hoyer. The Cubs attaining McLeod is a big win and the Cubs cannot be happier that he is staying put. The Cubs will never stand in the way of him getting a promotion from another team, but for the time being, the Cubs got a win. By McLeod saying he is here until the project is completed, shows how a good guy he really is a team player.
