In the wake of Chicago losing out on their hometown boy, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, the Bulls’ FO has managed to land a big name of their own. The former Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer has agreed to 5-year, $80 million deal with the Bulls on Wednesday afternoon.
The Boozer signing comes on the eve of LeBron James’ decision-making press-conference, which will take place on ESPN at 9/8 CT.
This leaves the Chicago Bulls with just enough money to sign LeBron James to a maximum contract, if James in fact elects to leave Cleveland for Chicago. Chicago now boasts a starting line-up which includes Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, and now Carlos Boozer. This would be an appealing scenario for James’ to step into and compete, right away, for a championship. James and Boozer are familiar with one-another – seeing as the two were teamed up together in Cleveland at the beginning of each of their careers.
Carlos Boozer averaged 19.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for the Utah Jazz last season, and 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per outing over his career.
