Prosecutors in New York say that Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane will not face rape charges after a three month investigation.
On Thursday, Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III said that the accuser’s claim and the evidence, both physical and forensic seemed to contradict what happened. The case will not go to a Grand Jury.
The totality of the credible evidence — the proof — does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant’s allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called “case” is rife with reasonable doubt. Accordingly, the Office of the Erie County District Attorney will not present this matter to an Erie County Grand Jury.
The Blackhawks star was accused of raping a woman in her 20’s at his home in Buffalo on Aug. 2. The case took some weird turns when the accuser’s mom created a fake evidence bag. The accuser’s attorney then resigned from the case leaving many wonder what was going on.
Kane’s image has taken a hit during the investigation as previous incidents in his career have also re-surfaced. The 26-year-old spoke at the Blackhawks Training Camp and said he believed he would be cleared of doing any wrong.
