A 5-1 victory for the Hawks has booked their ticket to the Western Conference Finals to face the San Jose Sharks. This will be the first time the Hawks don’t have home ice in this year’s playoffs but that hasn’t phased the Hawks yet as they are murdering teams at their stadiums.
The 1st period was full of excitement even though there were no goals scored. Patrick Sharp was presented with a break away but LOOOOOOOUUUUUUU took it right out of the air. Troy Brouwer and Kris Versteeg scored the first 2 goals of the game just 36 seconds apart. The air was sucked right out of Canada. Making it worse for the Canucks was the shorty scored by Dave Bolland with 45 seconds left in the 2nd period.
Shane O’Brien scored early in the 3rd but Niemi was not phased. That was the only goal that Niemi would allow the whole game. Kaner and Big Buff made the game 4-1 and 5-1 as Vancouver was in shock.
The Hawks will advance to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight year.
