The Bulls are fortunate to still be contending in this game. After ten first half turnovers, and being out rebounded 15-12.
Chris Bosh has been a much larger factor than in the last game between these two Eastern Conference powerhouses, when he had the worst shooting night in Miami Heat history, going 1-18 from the field and only totaling 7 points. In the first half alone, Bosh has 15 points.
However, as usual, the “Big Three” are carrying the Heat. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Bosh have 41 first half points between them, which has led the Heat to a 49-40 halftime surplus.
The Derrick Rose led Bulls went into the locker room with a little momentum, though. After LeBron was hearing “M-V-P” chants at the free throw line, Rose had the ball in his hands with 24 seconds left. He let the clock tick down to about nine before driving and hitting a floater from behind the hoop over the Miami defense, silently stating that James isn’t the only MVP candidate on the court.
Rose finished the half with 11 points and five assists. In order for the Bulls to make up the nine point deficit, Rose is going to have to make more plays such as the one he pulled off to close the half. This could be Rose’s chance to sway the voters one more time on national television for his MVP candidacy.
