Veteran point guard DJ Augustin will be available via free agency after he clears waivers at 5 p.m. ET today. Augustin was released by the Toronto Raptors Monday and has gained interest from the Chicago Bulls.
According to reports by Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bulls are the front-runners to sign the 5th year man out of Texas.
Augustin would help fill the void at the point guard position which lacks an attacking guard who can create their own shot. He certainly is an improvement over current guards Marquis Teague and Mike James who have struggled to see playing time.
The Charlotte Bobcats drafted Augustin with the ninth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and has averaged 9.4 points and 3.9 assists in his five-year career. Augustin has also spent time with the Indiana Pacers before joining the Raptors prior to the start of this season.
