What a perfect way to sum up Tom Thibodeau’s career. Now, the fastest coach to 100 wins, I don’t think much could make Thibs happier. With Derrick Rose out of the lineup, the Bulls (38-10) held the Orlando Magic to 59 points, a franchise best for opponent points per game.
But of course, as Thibs said in his post game press conference, “I’m just happy with the win.”
Carlos Boozer led the team to victory tonight scoring 24 points grabbing 13 rebounds and impressively, had 4 steals. His stat line was reminiscent of his effort tonight. He was mixing up his offense starting in the low post and moving outside. His jump shot was on target and he was able to beat Dwight Howard and Glen Davis off the dribble on multiple occasions. This is the exact level of effort and production the Bulls will need from Boozer in order to make a championship run.
John Lucas III scored 20 points and stepped up again to help the Bulls from the guard position. He has had a major impact on the Bulls success with Derrick out of the lineup and CJ Watson clearly not playing at his normal level.
An overall great team effort tonight was highlighted by the aforementioned Boozer and Lucas as well as Luol Deng, Kyle Korver, and Taj Gibson, who has been playing out of his mind lately and seems to have his hands on every offensive rebound.
The Bulls have to be happy about their recent play as they build on their league leading record. Their 10-4 record without the MVP, proves their depth and ability to face adversity with a defensively minded, team based attitude.
Their next game is Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors.
