The Chicago Bulls go into Miami with a 2-0 season record thus far. The Heat are favored to win this one, even after recent collapses in their last 3 games.
Among most expert’s choices for MVP has been a 1-2 rank of Derrick Rose and LeBron James. Making this not only a national spotlight game, but an award-watch game.
After those three straight close losses, Miami came out with a vengeance in this game. Chris Bosh showed up to play making all the difference in the resurgence through the first half. Miami led 49-40 after 2 periods.
The real game broke out in the 3rd for the Bulls, finding sync within Joakim Noah on the offensive floor and bursts from Luol Deng. The Bulls managed to get a few stops and take the lead just inside the 4th quarter.
Miami Heat guard, Mario Chalmers, provided effort on both ends of the floor to nix any Bulls attempt to pull away. In the end, the Luol Deng show took over when he was fouled on a drive to the basket with under 30 seconds in the game. He went to shoot 2 free throws with the score at 86-84 in Miami’s favor. He made the first basket(86-85) and missed the second attempt. The rebound was tipped around lose, and Luol grabbed it, only to get fouled again. Deng hit his next two free throws to give the Bulls an 87-86 lead with 15 seconds left in the game.
Miami called time-out and set up for it’s star players to be near the ball for the final seconds. Sound familiar? Just like the games before, in which LeBron missed the final basket, Miami failed to convert the last few seconds to break out of this slump. The Bulls hold on to win 87-86 to take sole possession of 2nd in the Eastern Conference and a 3-0 season series win over Miami.
Derrick Rose did his thing all night, breaking runs, and wearing down the double and triple teams. He lead all scores with 27, and added 5 assists, 1 steal in his 38 minutes.
The key to the win was off the glass. Between both teams, this game only saw 66 rebounds total. The Bulls had 6 more board(36 total) and 1 less turnover.
Carlos Boozer had a game high 10 rebounds to go with his 12 points.
Keith Bogans scored 3 points in 20 minutes off 4 looks from the arc. However the Heat’s Mike Miller scored just 1 point in 4 attempts from 3 in 31 minutes!
Next game: The Bulls are back at home to face New Orleans tomorrow at 7PM
