Quarterbacks in the AFC just collectively pissed their pants. The Jets are reportedly in talks with CB Nnamdi Asomugha. The Jets already have Darrelle Revis, if they were to add Asomugha, the Jets defense snatches the title as the best defense in the NFL.
Seriously, I cannot fathom these two CB’s playing opposite of each other.
The New York Jets are negotiating with cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, considered by many to be the top free agent in this year’s market, The Star-Ledger reported Tuesday, citing two people with knowledge of the talks.
Free agent Antonio Cromartie, who played opposite Revis last season, also was contacted by the Jets on Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the communication told The Star-Ledger.If the Jets can sign Asomugha, an eight-year veteran who has played his entire career with the Oakland Raiders, they could pair him with Darelle Revis to form one of the league’s all-time best tandems of shutdown corners.
ESPN reported Tuesday that Asomugha might be willing to take less money to play for a contender and that he’s interested in pursuing an acting career when his playing days are over. That would seem to favor the Jets.
