Each week we’ll be looking at how the top performers from the Bears did in terms of Fantasy Football. We’ll give you a brief list of who lit up their respective fantasy score boards, and who were the duds from that week.
The Bears season opener was against division rival, the Detroit Lions. Bear fans were expecting a blow out from the start. What we received was quite the opposite. Despite the game being statistically skewed in all areas favoring the Bears, Detroit maintained a 1-pt lead most of the game. This changed when Jay Cutler found Matt Forte down the sideline for a 28-yard touchdown hook up. Matt Forte was the “star” of this game, earlier before halftime, Forte had a 89-yard screen pass which he took to the house.
Fantasy Football Top Performers
1.) Matt Forte : 17 Carries for 50 Yards, 7 Catches for 151 Yards and 2 Receiving Touchdowns. Forte had 201 total yards and 2 touchdowns kept the Bears from losing to the lowly Lions. Something I noticed that I hadn’t seen from Forte in awhile was a burst of speed I hadn’t seen since his rookie season. Forte appears to be completely healthy after being a little shook up last season. In Mike Martz’s system, I expect Forte to contribute by catching a lot of passes out of the backfield. Forte made up for his two fumbles by having 200+ total yards.
2.) Jay Cutler : 23 for 35 for 372 Yards, 2 Touchdowns, 1 INT, 5 Carries for 22 Yards. Despite the 1 interception and fumble, Cutler had a solid day through the air and even spouted off for 22 yards on the ground. Cutler did a good job of maneuvering in the pocket and spread the ball out to 6 different receivers. Without the 2 turnovers, Cutler played very well. Expectations before the game for the offensive line were very low, and surprisingly Cutler’s mobility limited the amount of sacks.
3.) Devin Aromashodu : 5 Catches for 71 Yards. Devin Aromashodu gets a nod on our list for leading WR’s with catches and yards. He would have had a “solid” spot on this list for week 1 had he not dropped a wide open, perfectly thrown, touchdown on the opening drive of the game. Who knows, it could have been a different game had the Bears opened up at 7-0 instead of 3-0. DA should be a solid contributor each week.
Fantasy Football Duds
1.) Greg Olsen : 4 Catches for 37 Yards. Olsen is a dud for turning over the ball in the red-zone. In Matt Forte’s case he made up for his fumble by having 200+ yards and the only 2 TD’s the Bears had. Fantasy owners got nothing out of Olsen this week. I expected more.
2.) Devin Hester : 1 Catch for 17 Yards. Did anybody even see Devin Hester play? He was nowhere to be seen. I will give him credit, the 1 catch he did have was for 17 yards.
3.) My Fantasy Team : They will wind up losing.

Olsen is a dud in general. How long are we supposed to wait for this guy to realize his potential?
