We are just three days away from the 2025 NFL Draft.
After months of in-depth scouting, internal debating, and watching hours of film, front offices around the league will be tasked with improving rosters. Some teams will have an easier time than others, and some will face extreme difficulty. The Chicago Bears seem to be one of the teams in a good spot, selecting 10th in the first round this Thursday, and with many options.
Does Bears GM Ryan Poles want to continue fortifying the offensive line? Or will new head coach Ben Johnson bring over his strong offensive influence, and potentially draft another playmaker? The possibilities are endless, including trading back for more selections, if another team gets desperate.
With this being the last week for “mock drafts”, plenty of hot takes and wild predictions are floating around social media. A recent mock has the Bears targeting another pass catcher.
One insider has the Chicago Bears selecting Tyler Warren in the 2025 NFL Draft, creating a duel-tight end approach

One of the most talked-about names in the draft has been former Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, as he’s projected to be the first tight end off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft.
As a fifth-year senior, Warren emerged as a top prospect, having his best statistical year to date, catching 104 passes for 1,233 yards and reaching the endzone 8 times. He also ran for 4 touchdowns, as the former QB was a first-team All-American in 2024 and will look to build on that going into his rookie season in the NFL.
This morning, insider Matt Lombardo of Between the Hashes released his latest and last 2025 mock draft, and he had the Bears selecting Warren.
The Chicago Bears fortifying the offensive line in free agency and by acquiring Jonah Jackson and All-Pro Joe Thuney via trades sets the stage for general manager Ryan Poles to deliver a potentially game-altering weapon for second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. Enter tight end, chameleon Tyler Warren.
As Lombardo mentioned, the Bears’ front office has done a great job attempting to rebuild the offensive line this free agency, allowing for Chicago to be aggressive or bold with these early selections.
He added that Ben Johnson’s history with Sam LaPorta may be a reason to watch for Warren at pick number 10. Warren’s versatility makes him an ideal fit for most offenses, but especially Johnson’s.
Warren’s 19 forced missed tackles were second among tight ends in 2024, and only two players at the position pulled down more than his 13 contested catches. A playmaker at tight end, from the slot, or out of the backfield, Warren could become Williams’ ideal red-zone weapon as well as his security blanket. Ben Johnson turned Sam LaPorta into one of the premier players at the position across the league, and Warren might have even more upside.
Some may argue that the Bears already have a solid tight end in Cole Kmet, but new regimes and schemes can often be bad news for some players. In my latest mock here on ChiCity, I also had the Bears taking Warren at 10. I think the duel-tight end approach is a smart one, especially for young QB Caleb Williams, and it could help his development.
Warren could be a game-changing threat for the Chicago Bears

If the Bears do decide to make a bold move and take Warren, it could pay off immensely.
When you look at the Lions and how they’ve built their offense, a lot has to do with their offensive line. Detroit has some of the best playmakers and skill-positioned athletes in the NFL, but they wouldn’t be fully reaching their potential if it weren’t for that stout line giving QB Jared Goff all day in the pocket.

With the Bears’ line already being invested in, taking a guy like Warren is a sure possibility this weekend. When the Lions took Sam LaPorta 34th in the 2023 draft, many criticized and said that it was too early for the former Iowa Hawkeye. Now, GMs across the league are kicking themselves for letting the Lions grab him that late.
Of course, the two are different players with different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. But the opportunity to add more playmakers is always a tough one to pass on.
