The Chicago Bears need to protect Caleb Williams if they have an intention of contending going forward, and that’s why lineman Kelvin Banks Jr. is the selection here.
Widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, offensive lineman prospects in the 2025 draft, Banks would fill a major void in Ben Johnson’s offense. Banks won the Lombardi Award this past season, the award given to the best offensive lineman in the country.
Ranked one of the worst pass-protecting teams in the NFL last year, the Bears need a versatile guy like Banks to come in and make an impact immediately. Ashton Jeanty was available at this point in the simulation, and the Bears have reported interest. However, the offensive line needs to be addressed for a guy like Jeanty to be worth such a high pick.
The former Texas Longhorn is an elite athlete with exceptional quickness for the position, making him such a sought-after prospect. I think he projects as more of an interior lineman at the next level, but his strength and toughness allow him to play tackle with ease. With the only certain on the Bears o-line being RT Darnell Wright, you can’t go wrong with this selection in the top-ten, if they indeed hold onto the pick.
