Round 3, Pick 72: RB Kaleb Johnson, Iowa / 6’0, 225 LBS
The rushing attack for the Bears in 2024 was brutally bad. They ranked 25th in the NFL in all-purpose rushing yards, a stat that needs improvement for the development of Williams to continue smoothly.
Johnson has emerged as one of the best backs in the draft after his strong junior season, where he put up some great numbers. He ran for over 1500 yards, 21 touchdowns, and ran for an average of 6.4 (wow) yards per carry. Johnson is a hard-nosed, downhill runner who reminds me of guys like Najee Harris and Tyler Allgeier.
As mentioned in the post below, Johnson has exceptional patience and vision. Almost reminds me of a stronger, more contact-driven Le’Veon Bell.
I really love the patience I see on film from Kaleb Johnson (#Iowa RB).
He’s consistently waiting for blocks to develop. He plays with a calm demeanour.
I see a little bit of Mixon/Mostert to his game, and welcoming better comps. pic.twitter.com/TrN87kWL9g

It’s hard to believe Johnson will be here at this point in the draft, but he was in the simulation. Hard to pass up on a guy like this who brings so much passion to his game.
Whether or not you want to blame the Bears’ running backs or their offensive line for the poor rushing game, something needs to change going forward. New head honcho Ben Johnson and his former Detroit Lions moved on from D’Andre Swift in 2024, so it will be interesting to see if he follows suit again here in Chicago.
