Interior Defensive Line
Poles concentrated on developing the offense this offseason. The Chicago Bears have a potentially exciting and fun offense now. He did a good job with the defense last year. He still needs some tweaking to do, though.
Starting defensive tackle Justin Jones is now with the Arizona Cardinals. It appears the Chicago Bears are comfortable having Gervon Dexter take his place. Dexter kept improving as the season progressed last year. Now it seems the starting job is his to lose.
The Bears did not draft an interior lineman to back Dexter. However, they did sign undrafted rookie Keith Randolph. They have a lot of confidence in Randolph and he has a good chance of making the team. Being a rookie, an undrafted one at that, he will have some developing to do.
Randolph won’t be expected to come in and start so he can develop like Dexter did last season. However, having deeper depth is always a good thing. Someone like Hassan Ridgeway could be helpful.
Ridgeway could help both Dexter and Randolph. He is returning from an Achilles injury. Being a backup, he wouldn’t have to come in and be expected to take over. He could do it, however, if he is over his injury. He can come in for a season, help the defensive tackle spot, and either earn a bigger contract with the Chicago Bears or get a starting job with another team.
