Williams shows why the Bears wanted him so much
Poles tailor-made the offense for Caleb Williams. He made some savvy moves to put himself in a position to bring Williams to Chicago. Having Williams, Poles wanted to ensure that the rookie was in the best possible situation to succeed.
This is a much better-looking offense. The Chicago Bears offense is usually marked with struggles moving the ball and scoring points. Now, if Williams shows that he is a halfway decent quarterback, the offense can be a scoring machine.
Many feel that Williams is in the best situation any quarterback chosen number one has ever been in. Normally, the team with the number one pick is a team that is a mess. It is the team with the worst record. However, things are different with the Chicago Bears
The Bears were 7-10 last season. That was a big jump from the 3-14 team from 2022. Additionally, the Bears have a strong defense that could be an elite unit this season. Now throw in this new-look offense and things could be special in 2024.
Williams showed off some serious talent in the preseason games. He showed a great, accurate arm, great escapability, and a flair for the dramatic. Of course, it was a small sample size and it did not count. It is not real until this Sunday and moving forward.
If Williams can show some of the same skills during the regular season, there will be lots of fireworks this season.
Prediction: Williams will blast through Mitchell Trubisky‘s franchise record for most passing yards by a rookie quarterback. He passes for 3,462 yards. Furthermore, he crushes the team record for most touchdowns thrown by a rookie quarterback currently owned by Charlie O’Rourke (11) by throwing 32. He throws 11 interceptions.
