Carl Lawson
Carl Lawson was the Cincinnati Bengals’ fourth-round pick in 2017. He signed with the New York Jets as a free agent in 2021. However, he dealt with injuries in New York. He suffered an Achilles tear that shut down his season in 2021 In 2023, he suffered a back injury that limited him to just six games.
Even when healthy, the Jets cut his playing time last season. He was a healthy scratch in two games and he was not happy about it. At the end of the season, the Jets voided his contract and he became a free agent.
Now Lawson wants to show he can help a team. He can also be the beneficiary of playing alongside Sweat and revive his career. If he can fulfill his promise and make an impact he could either re-sign with the Chicago Bears or cash in on a new free-agent deal elsewhere.
Teams are not in a big hurry to find more free-agent help. They can take their time to find players who can help. With the Chicago Bears gaining a lot of popularity after Poles’ moves, Lawson would have a lot of eyes on him. If he shows he is over his injury and plays well, he will get more attention next offseason.
