Linval Joseph, Defensive Tackle
Without adding a defensive tackle in the draft, it seems that the Chicago Bears will go with Gervon Dexter as the starting defensive tackle. Dexter had a solid rookie season as the backup to Justin Jones. Now that Jones bolted for the Arizona Cardinals via free agency, the job looks like it belongs to Dexter.
Since Dexter will be the starter, the Bears need a backup to take Dexter’s old position. Since Dexter is in just his second season, two-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champ Linval Joseph could be a great mentor.
Joseph will be 36 when the season begins and has 186 games under his belt. He could be of great help to Dexter. In his 14 seasons there is nothing he has not seen. He can be an extra coach for the young player. He will not have to take the bulk of the snaps so he could concentrate on giving Dexter some rest and pointers.
Joseph played six seasons for the Vikings so he is another player familiar with the NFC North. WIth all the talent now in the division he may relish the chance to come back and have one more go-around.
