Van Jefferson, Atlanta Falcons
One thing to keep in mind about free agency is that Poles and the Chicago Bears are not in a position to need a big-name, big-contract player. There are reports about them going after someone like Tee Higgins or Mike Evans. Don’t get your hopes up for that, though. Chicago has Moore so the need for an expensive receiver isn’t there.
Van Jefferson could be a good pickup. The Bears would have Moore, Scott, a highly-ranked rookie, and Jefferson. The Bears have Shane Waldron as their new offensive coordinator. Waldron is a Sean McVay disciple and runs a similar offense. Waldron worked with Waldron when Waldron was coming up the ranks with the Los Angeles Rams.
Jefferson was drafted by the Rams and played with them until Los Angeles traded him in 2023. He will be familiar with what Waldron runs on offense. While he has struggled in the past two seasons, he had a big season in 2021 when he had 50 catches for 802 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. He was a key contributor to the Rams’ Super Bowl run.
Jefferson could have a revival with Waldron and the Chicago Bears. Additionally, Spotrac projects Jefferson’s market value at $2.3 million. That would be a big help with other holes to be filled.
