Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders
If Poles were to splurge a bit on a receiver, it could be on Curtis Samuel. While Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson get more attention in the Washington Commanders’ offense, Samuel finished second in targets (91), receptions (62). and receiving yards (613).
If the Bears employ a speed-dominated offense with the receivers, Samuel would be of great help. He runs a 4.3-40 and uses his quickness to create separation. Moreover, he is a jack-of-all-trades. He can play as a receiver or in the backfield. He can play the same role that Deebo Samuel plays for the San Francisco 49ers.
Having Samuel run from the backfield would give the Chicago Bears a dynamic one. The Bears have had one of the best running attacks in the league the past two seasons. They ranked first in 2022 and second in 2023.
If starting quarterback Justin Fields comes back, imagine the opposing defense having to deal with not just the Chicago Bears running backs, but also Fields’ great running, and then Samuel. The Bears could be running opponents ragged every week.
Samuel would not have to be the Bears’ top option. While defenses have to be concerned with Moore and the other receivers, as well as tight end Cole Kmet, Samuel can sneak in via the run or pass, and make big plays. He’d be an excellent addition to the Chicago Bears.
