Round 7, pick 258: Michael Jefferson, WR Louisiana / 6’4 199 LBS
With their compensatory pick at the very end of this draft, the Chicago Bears will go with Michael Jefferson.
Jefferson is a smooth, tall wide out with reliable hands that can be a big target on offense. He had a solid fifth-year senior season in which he caught 7 touchdowns on 810 yards and 51 catches. He could be another Chase Claypool type; big body receiver with potential to become even more.
NFL draft prospect Michael Jefferson has had an interview with the Chicago Bears, per sources.
Michael is a wide receiver and played college football at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he caught 51 catches and had 7 touchdowns this past season.

As you can see the Chicago Bears had an interview with him a few weeks ago, so the possibility is definitely there. Jefferson won’t take the top off the defense, that’s not his game. He’s got great upper body strength and is a more than willing run blocker on the perimeter. He’d be a good target at the end of the draft to compete for a roster spot on this newly revamped WR room.
This will be the first of what I hope to be three mock drafts before the actual draft takes place in late April. The other two will include trades down for more picks, and maybe trades up depending on who’s available.
