Round 6, Pick 193: TE Payne Durham, Purdue / 6’6 253 LBS
This is a little late for me personally to be taking a tight end, as I think they should target one a bit earlier. However, Payne Durham is one of the more underrated tight ends in the draft and getting him at this point in the draft would be super ideal.
The Chicago Bears are definitely interested, as Durham scored a top 30 visit last week. In 2022, Durham had 56 catches for 560 yards and 8 touchdowns. That brought his four-year career total to solid 21 endzone visits for the Boilermakers. His long arms and good hands make him a serious red-zone threat that Justin Fields might fall in love with.

He’s also a fantastic blocker who looks to get to the second level and become physical every play, he has that ‘dog’ in him. Durham doesn’t have the speed you may want in a receiving tight end, but he makes up for it in other aspects of his game. He could learn a lot from guys like Cole Kmet and Robert Tonyan.
With a name like Payne, he just sounds like a Chicago Bears football player.
