Round 3, Pick 64: DT Gervon Dexter, Florida / 6’5 318 LBS
Not your typical Chicago Bear, and not your typical defensive tackle, but Gervon Dexter has a ton of potential. An athletic freak out of the University of Florida who doesn’t fit in the current scheme. However, he’s a perfect example of what GM Ryan Poles is looking for in this draft in terms of pure athleticism and length.
Poles and the Chicago Bears have already met with Dexter, so it’s clear there’s an interest from up top. Last season with the Gators, Dexter tallied 55 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and even intercepted a pass. Other than his extremely impressive combine workout, his best tape I found was against Kentucky, which I’ll link below.
Florida’s Gervon Dexter is one of the most talented IDLs in the 2023 NFL Draft when he’s on… just sheer explosiveness and power controlling linemen as a run defender and pass rusher.
If he can figure out getting off the ball quicker he’ll be a monster in the NFL. pic.twitter.com/bWDi5CMIEO

He definitely a project. I wouldn’t expect him to be a day one starter unless he dominates in camp and preseason, but he has the frame and potential to be a real contributor eventually. While his size, speed, and athleticism were allowing him to be a playmaker in college, he needs to work on the more technical aspects of his game in order to become an all-around defensive lineman.
