The Chicago Bears could be on the cusp of dropping one of the elite weapons in the 2025 NFL Draft class behind a revamped offensive line to jumpstart the offense and accelerate quarterback Caleb Williams‘ development.
While the Bears could invest the No. 10 overall pick in one of the premier edge rushers in this year’s class to upgrade the defense, or dynamic pass-catching tight end Tyler Warren, out of Penn State, as a security blanket and electrifying Swiss-Army Knife of a weapon for Williams, there’s a chance general manager Ryan Poles and Chicago eschew positional value, entirely.
After all, if the offensive line makes the kind of leap expected with the arrivals of All-Pro guard Joe Thuney, veteran guard Jonah Jackson, and stalwart center Drew Dalman, adding a dominant running back could throw open head coach Ben Johnson’s playbook and help Williams make major strides.
Chicago Bears’ blockbuster D’Andre Swift for Ashton Jeanty trade proposal

Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, Bleacher Report NFL analyst Moe Moton put together a list of potential blockbuster trades that could still happen, including the Bears sending running back D’Andre Swift, the No. 10 overall pick, and the No. 72 overall pick–in the third-round to the Las Vegas Raiders, in exchange for pick No. 6 overall.
It would be a bold and transformative move that would allow Poles to add an elite talent onto a young and ascending offense.
“Johnson, who’s now the Bears’ head coach,” Moton writes for B/R. “May want a different type of running back leading his backfield. Don’t be surprised if he adds a running back early in the upcoming draft and puts Swift on the trade block.
According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, the Bears “love” Boise State product Ashton Jeanty. So, Chicago could take an aggressive approach to acquire him on Day 1 of the draft. If Jeanty is available when the Raiders go on the clock for the No. 6 pick, the Bears can package Swift and a couple of premium picks to move up for Jeanty.”

The Raiders have been linked to Jeanty as a team who could select him from underneath the Bears, but perhaps Moton is onto something: Las Vegas might be tempted by the additional draft capital and Swift to pass up on the Boise State dynamo.
Jeanty, despite the fact that he plays running back, could be one of the more coveted prospects in this year’s class, and a potentially significant upgrade over Swift in the Bears’ offense.
While Swift rushed for 959 yards and six touchdowns last season, it isn’t difficult to imagine Johnson wanting to upgrade at running back, while dreaming of the mismatches created by Jeanty, who averaged seven yards per carry and rushed for 29 touchdowns at Boise State last season.
