Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham has interviewed for many job openings in the past few off-seasons. Cunningham has previously interviewed with the Washington Commanders and Tennesee Titans. He also declined an offer to become the general manager for the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 as well.
Cunningham has been with the Bears since the 2022 season and has been a valuable part of the Bears front office. He has been a top candidate for a couple of general manager positions this off-season, and it now looks like there is a chance he could be leaving the Bears soon.
The Chicago Bears assistant GM will be getting a second interview with an AFC team

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero has revealed that the Bears assistant GM will be getting a second interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“The #Jaguars are lining up in-person second interviews for their GM job next week, with #Packers VP of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan and #Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham among others on the list, per sources. Interim GM Ethan Waugh also is expected to interview next week.”

The Chicago Bears would be rewarded if Cunningham is hired

If Cunningham gets hired by the Jaguars, a nice reward would be given to Ryan Poles. The Bears would be given two third-round draft picks: one for the 2025 NFL draft and one for the 2026 NFL draft. Having these extra picks would provide more flexibility for the Bears front office.
The Bears could potentially use one of these picks for a trade-up or trade-down scenario or could even use one of these picks to trade for a player as well. This provides Chicago with another resource to improve its football team. Poles could possibly end up with five draft selections within the first three rounds of the 2025 draft, this would be very valuable for the off-season.
There are some significant positions the Chicago Bears need to upgrade at, specifically guard and edge rusher. With how deep the 2025 draft class is, Poles could definitely find a gem with an extra third-round pick.
Even though the Bears could lose a valuable member of this front office, it could still lead to a great reward that would help improve the team for the upcoming season.
